Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

A new quest has begun. When I was young I was inspired by the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I enjoyed Zen from my study of the martial arts and I enjoyed riding motorcycles. At the time it was my primary source of transportation as it has once again become now.

Recently I was inspired by a movie about George Christie called the Last American Outlaw. The original intent of the movie was to make a sequel to Easy Rider and follow a guy who rides a motorcycle across America reflecting on lost liberty. I think that quest is timely and important.

I've booked some time off work and am going to go on my own quest. I'm going to ride my motorcycle from New York City through Canada down the Oregon coast to LA camping in a tent along the way. It will be my sequel to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance experiencing freedom in the moment. It won't be about finding God or defining religion. It will be about experiencing freedom and defining the civl liberty in the Constitution and Charter of rights which is under constant attack. Indeed the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Peace.
